Literary Translator. Copy Editor. Writer.
Alice Banks is a copy editor, writer, and literary translator from French and Spanish based in Ciudad Real, Spain. After graduating with a French degree from Bangor University, Alice went on to study for an MA in Literary Translation at the University of East Anglia.
My name is Alice and I am a literary translator from French and Spanish into English with a particular interest in contemporary and feminist literature.
In 2019 I graduated from Bangor University with a First Class BA Hons in French where I also received the Barbara Saunderson Prize for best in year. In September 2020 I completed the MA in Literary Translation at the University of East Anglia where throughout a variety of classes and workshops, I was able to practise my translation and build a varied portfolio.
I am currently working as a freelance translator and copy editor, whilst also volunteering for the esteemed literary translation journal, Asymptote and the European Literature Network, a brilliant organisation dedicated to the promotion of literature in translation. I am open to creative translation work from both French and Spanish, as well as copy editing and writing work.
